Doing the homework on e-waste recycling
eDay provides an opportunity for your school to safely recycle unused computers and computer-related equipment (e.g. printers, scanners) – and to help students learn about the dangers of inappropriate disposal of e-waste.
e-waste teaching resources
We have put together a special kit of teaching resources and classroom activities to assist you in teaching students about the dangers of e-waste. The kit aims to help:
- Students learn about e-waste and its associated harmful effects on the environment
- Students learn about solutions for disposing of e-waste in an environmentally friendly way
- Students become aware of the environmental impact that technology is having on the world we live in.

School eDay drop off details
Please note that due to eDay site capacity, we aren’t able to accept large quantities of equipment from schools on 4 Oct and 5 Oct. Instead, for most areas we have organised special drop-off dates just for schools. To get involved, schools must:
- Complete this survey to indicate the type and quantity of e-waste your school currenty has.
- Contact by phone or email the School eDay contact person by 19 September with your preferred drop-off time.
- Read the list of equipment that can be disposed of.

Have e-Waste Eddie visit your school
Children laugh and learn their way to powerful eco-friendly practices and ideas around e-waste during a performance of fun learning and interactive magic. Tony Collis will mesmerise with his magic, bring down the house with his humour and drive home the message with his eco-friendly buddy e-Waste Eddie. Tony Collis is a well known New Zealand puppeteer with his school programme “It’s Cool to be Kind – uncool to be cruel” anti-bullying presentation. All schools that dispose of e-waste as part of School eDay will go in the draw to win and e-Waste Eddie show!
